Pedorthics is the practice, pursuant to a written order/prescription when addressing a medical condition, of evaluation, treatment, planning, patient managing, measuring, designing, fabricating, assembling, fitting, adjusting or servicing, necessary to accomplish the application of a pedorthic device for the prevention or amelioration of painful and/or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle. (Board for Certification in Pedorthics)
We practice the design, manufacture, modification and fit of shoes and foot orthoses (arch supports) to alleviate foot problems caused by disease, overuse or injury. These devices are carefully fitted to relieve or accommodate temporary or permanent foot problems.
With the guidance of the doctor's diagnosis and the patient's willingness to use appropriate footwear, the Pedorthist can make a real difference in the quality of life.
